Will you accept commissions?
Absolutely! If you’re interested in commissioning an image from me, contact me and we’ll work out the details. I’m willing to do sketches, colored pencil work, and CG work.

Do you take requests/draw pictures for free?
Sorry, but no. I have so many ideas of my own (and of Illumina’s!) to draw that I just don’t have the time. However, I may consider an art trade.

Can I use your images on my website?
Please, please, PLEASE send me an e-mail before any of my images are put on your website. It may be that I will allow you to do so, but only if you ASK FIRST, link back to AlipesArt.com and provide proper credit to me. In addition, I won’t allow use of any sort of cropped images outside of the versions provided on the website.

How do you draw your pictures?
If I’m working on a CG image, I’ll start with a pencil sketch on paper, and once I’m overall happy with it, I’ll scan it in to color. I use Photoshop CS and a Wacom Intuos3 9x12 graphics tablet (yes, a huge tablet, but it works best for me) to ink/color my images, and while my general coloring style varies widely from image to image, I always use the sketch on a separate layer and ink over it on a new layer. Then I fill in the colors on their own layers (skin for one, shirt for one, etc.) so if I need to make tweaks to individual parts, it’s easier to do. The background (or at least the basic colors for the background) are added next, again to their own separate layer, then go back and alter the colors slightly so they work well together. After that, it’s the shading/highlights and then the background details.

How long have you been drawing in this style/CG coloring?
The first images I really did in this style were in late 2002, and as far as CG coloring, the images from early 2003 on the site are pretty close to the first as well. In other words, this style and the coloring are still being worked on and improved, and I feel I’ve made some major improvements from when I started. I’m willing to listen to constructive criticism, but if you send me an e-mail along the lines of “omg you suxxorzzz!1!1” your e-mail will be promptly deleted. ;)

Where do you get ideas for your images?
This is really a tough question. I have a very active imagination, so normally just reading a book, watching TV, playing a video game, etc. will give me some odd ideas for what to draw. If I’m working on an image, I always have some sort of noise in the background – be it music, anime, South Park, a movie, something. If you’re really stuck on ideas for what to draw, use a variety of different sources for ideas – take a walk, look at other artists’ work (but don’t copy them, just use them for inspiration!), browse the web, etc.
